First Visit
Dear Sufi,
6 January 2014
They scheduled us at 11.30 on a Monday morning. I had a miscommunication with Papa about taking half day leave. When that was resolved, I took my morning bath. One of our marriage habit that
I don't think we have ever seriously discuss, is not to answer any calls coming from each other's phone. If kawan, boss Papa or even any family members call Papa, I'll take a quick peek who's calling and let it ring. He will do the same everytime my phone rings. Kenapa entah? Ada kot sekali dua Mama pernah angkat bila Tok Abah call. Tok Abah asyik cakap hello hello hello bila dengar suara Mama.

So I heard a text message beep from my phone as I stepped out from the bathroom. I saw a missed call from KL Fertility Center at 9.01 am and quickly informed Papa about the sudden text message request to postpone our appointment at 2.30pm. Great. Tapi amik half day leave pagi. So I called them up and the lady quickly requested to come in NOW. Huh? What do you mean NOW? She asked me where we are staying and confidently asked me, half an hour should be sufficient for us to get there, right? Berkerut dahi Mama. Apa ni suka2 tukar appointment last minute. Dah la baru first visit. I tried to be diplomatic to both parties. Told the lady we will try to make it in an hour time and told Papa they will wait for us. Papa kalau time macam ni memang susah sikit nak sabar. So I carefully choose my words to him.
We finally got there around 10.30 am after making a few rounds to find the building - google maps is not updated with the jalan sehala AND finding a parking was a problem. We were amused by the season parking technology at the Menara Perintis. Papa cakap dah macam kat Japan.
As we got to the lift lobby, a kind hearted Makcik Cleaner ushered us to which level should we go to and as we stepped inside the center, I raised my eyebrows. Ramai orang and a bit kelam kabut.

A Malay lady sweetly offered us to take a seat and bring me a form to fill in. We scanned around the room - all races ada and quickly came up with our theory - all patients pun kena rescheduled tu pasal kelam kabut hari ni. Then I suddenly asked Papa, kalau Doc tanya dah berapa lama kita try, apa awak nak jawab? We had a funny disagreement when we actually started trying :p
It took us a solid 25 minutes of waiting time when I heard my first name been called up in a faded tone. I saw a tall slender Chinese lady at the end of the room holding a file and a pen. It was the Doctor. Impress a kejap. Doctor sendiri keluar from the room calling for patients.

As I sat down at ther desk, I saw her cat eye line drawing. Stylo jugak Dr. Helena ni. Cantik. Macam Elaine Daily pulak. Suka senyum. Eh sukanya. Haha tengok Dr. cantik pun suka.
I didn't plan what to say. I just went through quickly in my mind (while waiting) to structure what info should I include.
I started of with... I have a 4 year old daughter... which later I regretted starting my sentence with I. It should be...WE. Sorry Pa. I immediately love Dr. Helena. Very warm, friendly, energetic, suka selitkan Bahasa Melayu. Suka lah. She started off by jotting down our details, and there it was - a solid 1 minute of silent - kalau ada jarum jatuh confirm bleh dengar. Dr. Helena Tanya Papa, what do you do, Mr Zamir? Apakah pekerjaan?
....
....
Tick Tock
Tick Tock.
My eyes dah bulat dan besar waiting for Papa to answer. Nothing. His eyes were wandering at the table, trying to figure out for an answer.
Tick Tock.
I hold back myself to answer for him.
Tick Tock.
Papa! He was nervous! Nak jawab kerja apa pun sampai kelu lidah :p Hahaha that was one of the longest silent ever Yang!
Engineer...
I can see Dr. Helena's trying to hide her terperanjatness. Haha. Papa boleh cakap ngan Mama lepas tu, Papa confuse nak jawab apa. Haha. Confuse nak cakap position apa sebab dah naik pangkat :p Kikiki
She then started digging out our history and lifestyle. Laju je Mama tolong jawabkan tuk Papa bila Dr. Helena tanya Papa smoking ke tak. Confirm la tak kan. Papa pun jawab. Sometimes.
Pulak? Ni bila masa pulak??? Bulat biji mata Mama time tu...
So she performed a vaginal scan on me. I was struggling to understand the images displayed on the black screen.. Here's your right ovary..left ovary. Here's an ovum..a couple more here.. bla bla.. ok the sizing is fine.. uterus lining is fine.. you're ready. so you're ready tonight, Aqmar.
We sat back at her desk. Everything is fine with you Aqmar. Everything looks good. So today is your Day 9 and you should get busy tonight. Tiap-tiap malam until six days. Telan air liur Mama. Tiap-tiap malam??? If not, every alternate day, kalau larat, every night. Starting tonight. Your ovum is ready.
Haa? Apa Dr. Helena ni..awal kot to get busy? and EVERYDAY?? Funny jugak when she used the sentence - kalau larat.
I think you might not need my help after all. She gave us a broad smile. Wow Mama sangat terkesan dengan statement itu. Then she explained to us on the basic fertility assessment that she enrolled us in, which costs Papa RM699.
Oh my...nak update this entry took me more than a week..
Love,
Mama
