In The Dark
Dear Sufi,
I just sent you off to sleep. It took you more than half an hour after finishing your 8oz of milk to completely dozed off. Papa dah pesan semalam before going to Sabah. Sufi tidur dalam cot tau. Papa knows that both of us will take this opportunity to sleep and cuddle together on the queen bed :)
Yesterday night, I'd planned to put you off to sleep first before I transferred you into the cot. But I think I fell asleep long before you did. I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my mobile phone. Papa sent a text around 10.40pm to check on us.
You know why sometimes I simply love putting off you to sleep when we were alone together, Sufi? You can be the sweetest and most adorable daughter (despite your keganasan nak main tembak-tembak, main dush-dush gusti, tiba-tiba buat gaya ultraman, gelak ala-ala raja gila kuasa). You always search for my hand in the dark and you will tap your little fingers on it or just resting your palm on my hand. And I simply love the warmness of your touch. That's only the start. You will then continue kissing my my lower hand, upper hand, kadang-kadang ketiak pun cium jugak! Sampai terangkat kepala nak mencium! Then you'll put your warm hand on my face, playing with my eye lashes yang lentik (Ehem! Ehem Papa Ehem!), touching my nose, kadang-kadang korek-korek lubang hidung! You also loves to brush my hair with your finger. I had to admit, you melt my heart, Sufi :) But you never do that with Papa. If Papa asked you to kiss him, you will always quickly wipe your mouth with your hand and sometimes you even said Yek! tajam. geli. kena Papa punye three-day beard. Sufi tak suka. Mama suka. Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Anywaysssss, tonight, you did the samething. Kissing my nose and we giggled in the dark with a background sound of Terawih prayer from the mosque. Macam mana lah nak tidur kan asyik gelak-gelak. I put my right eyes at the corner of your forehead which perfectly fits. You didn't say anthing and just let me do it for quite sometime. Which reminds me of my quick meet with Aunty Nojie's boss at Food Republic, Pavilion. Her lady boss said to me something like this when she saw you putting your hands around my neck, Bestnya ada anak perempuan. Manja. Suka peluk-peluk. Anak akak lelaki, takde la nak peluk-peluk macam ni. Sufi, at times we just need other people to point out how lucky we are. I'm glad she said that out loud.
Sufi, cuddling and looking your into your starry eyes in the dark is so priceless... You ran through your finger on my cheek and said Mama cantik. Cantik tapi lawa sangat. Sufi sayang Mama banyak-banyak. Ngan Papa ngan Nenek. Dah. Dah. Tidur. Amboi! Dia pulak yang suruh Mama tidur! Tak sampai satu minit, I heard you chanting bag pink, bag pink, pink, pink. I raised my voice and you shut your eyes so hard and cuddled me closer. A few minutes later, your hand fell off from my shoulder. I quietly sneak out from the room and login to my thinkpad - writing this entry :)
Good night bidadariku. Sufi jadi anak yang solehah ye, InsyaAllah. Amin.
Love,
Mama

p/s: I think I need to figure out how to make you become more soft spoken - eh tapi macam mana sebab Mama pun tak berapa nak soft spoken? Adeh la.
