Dear Sufi,
Today is the sixteen day of Syawal. Alhamdulillah, we had a sweet and fun Aidilfitri. On our way back to KL, I told Papa there were just too many interesting stories and moments that I wanted to share with you but that would take me forever to finish this entry. So I'm just going to highlight some of them. The photos would be descriptive enough for you to imagine your Aidilfitri celebrations!
1 Syawal: Aidilfitri with Nenek
So it was our turn this year to celebrate with Nenek. Pak Long and Mak Ngah Ida went back to their spouses hometown - Penang and Melaka. It was a quiet 1 Syawal. Only the four of us. Nenek prepared her Hari Raya signature dishes - kuah kacang, rendang ayam, nasi impit and ketupat. Another signature Raya menu that Nenek will always prepare is her famous agar-agar koko. Somehow, none of us remember it this year.
We went to Solat Hari Raya at Masjid As-Syakirin. The khutubah finished rather late - around 10am. We were hungry by then so we had a quick bite of almost everything. We then visited my Atuk's (my grandmother) and Acik (my favourite Aunty - Nenek's elder sister) graves. It was your first time going to the cemetery. After I finished reciting Yassin, you said - Lawanya kubur Mak. I was startled but then quickly realized it was a dialogue from Upin Ipin's episode of Hari Ibu. The twins visited their mother's grave to celebrate mother's day.
When we got back to Nenek's place, you and Papa started indulging on the kuih raya while I was giving myself a full revenge of gassy drinks! We took our bath again to change to our baju kurung Raya (we were wearing our daily baju kurung since we were going to the cemetery). As I was getting ready, Nek Uda and her big family came. We didn't even bersalaman minta maaf among us yet and have not taken a single shot of our family photo! It was 2.30pm by then. After a quick bersalaman and giving out duit raya, we went off to Tok Alang's and Nek Ngah's house. I usually will go to Nek Uda's house but Papa said we already meet them at Nenek's place so we went to Atuk's place. We had the famous sup tulang, rendang daging and paru, lemang and whatsoever I cant remember. Had a long photoshoot, played bunga api and mercun and Makcik Na insisted us to overnight but I've refused to her earlier.

| This is so typical of them. Have all the colours! They got the kain from Bangkok and decided to have all the colours for Raya! Alangkah bestnya kalau Mama sama size boleh la pinjam. Sigh. |

2 Syawal: Balik Kampung

| Singgah rumah Aunty Syida for 2 hours - a delicious kampung lunch with an extended western desserts (OMG my favourite apple crumble & cheese cake) and tah la macam2 la Aunty Syida kamu jamu. Me and Papa were overstuffed and you were having fun with Aunty Syida's dad! Siap pegang tangan ajak main motor kat luar! |
